Details

USN-3294-1 fixed a vulnerability in Bash. This update provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 12.04 ESM.

Original advisory details:

It was discovered that Bash incorrectly handled the SHELLOPTS and PS4 environment variables. A local attacker could use this issue to execute arbitrary code with root privileges. (CVE-2016-7543)

Update instructions
